Frequently Asked Questions

Question
What advantages does WickedHyper™ bring to a container port?

Answer
Many.

Speed. WickedHyper™ is capable of keeping up with the largest container ships and the ship-to-shore cranes servicing them. Containers move from the ship through WickedHyper™ to the HyperRail™ and on to an inland intermodal terminal without ever touching the port’s ground.

Space. WickedHyper™ and its associated operations take up a fraction of the valuable waterfront property required by conventional container port operations.

Efficiency. WickedHyper™ reduces ship turnaround time and container dwell. Containers are brought forward to the port on-demand from the intermodal terminal via high-speed HyperRail™, unloaded through WickedHyper™, and loaded onto the ships without sitting on the grounds of the port for one second.

Productivity. By relocating containers from the port to the inland intermodal terminal, demurrage fees are practically eliminated. Port space that was previously occupied by stacked containers can now be put to more productive and profitable uses.

Profitability. WickedHyper™ and HyperRail enable a port to drastically increase their container throughput volume while capturing savings from reduced infrastructure stress and carbon emissions.

Sustainability. WickedHyper™ and HyperRail™ are both fully electric systems, eliminating tons of carbon emissions generated by diesel trains and trucks. Waterfront property can be better aligned with environmental goals and mandates.

Safety. Both WickedHyper™ and HyperRail™ are primarily autonomous systems, all but eliminating the dangers associated with port container operations. Port employees work with the systems from a safe distance, in roles that capitalize on their knowledge and experience.

Question
What exactly does WickedHyper™ do?

Answer
WickedHyper™ provides seamless, high-speed, synchronized transfer of shipping containers between ships and HyperRail™, enabling ports to remain free of unsightly space-eating container stacks.
Question
Is WickedHyper™ a new form of transportation for shipping containers?

Answer
No, WickedHyper™ is the system that allows innovative forms of high-speed cargo transportation, such as HyperRail™, to integrate with ports and inland rail terminals.
Question
How is WickedHyper™ different than the automated crane technology available today?

Answer
Automated crane technology is just one component of WickedHyper™, along with integrated HyperRail™ movement, robotics, multi-directional sensing, and choreographed automated guidance vehicle (AGV) traffic, among others. WickedHyper™ is the catalyst that orchestrates at a speed and efficiency that enables containers to be transported off of ports as fast as they are unloaded from ships.
Question
Is HyperRail™ the same thing as hyperloop?

Answer
No, HyperRail™ is completely different. Hyperloop is years-away technology that requires all-new super-expensive infrastructure and focuses on speed while moving passengers and small cargo. HyperRail™ uses current hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric technology and operates on conventional rail tracks, with a focus on agility and efficiency in the movement of containerized cargo.
