As Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of WickedHyper™, Bernie Groseclose brings 35 years of seaport administration expertise to the company including over 12 years as President & CEO of the South Carolina Ports Authority, which at the time was recognized by its customers for having one of the most efficient and productive ports in the world. For the past 11 years Bernie has run an international port and maritime consulting practice, applying his professional knowledge to modernizing and improving operations in ports in the U.S., Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. Bernie’s areas of expertise include seaport management and operations, strategic planning, feasibility studies, contract negotiations, and international trade and transportation. He has performed multiple assignments for the U.S. Trade & Development Agency and for the U.S. Department of Commerce working with foreign delegations of port and government officials.
Bernie has also held key leadership positions in the global port industry, as Chairman of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and as a Vice President of the International Association of Ports & Harbors (IAPH). He previously was selected to represent the U.S. port sector on the Executive Committee of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences, and also as a member of the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Council for the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
Mr. Groseclose received his B.A. in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, and his M.B.A. from the College of William & Mary. He and his wife, a professional artist, now enjoy life in the mountains of Western North Carolina with their two Goldendoodles. His interests include travel, reading, cooking and gardening, and he is a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, trail building and mountain climbing.
